GFX has chosen Chyron's Duet LEX graphics system with Lyric compositing tool as their graphics solution for its worldwide sporting coverage.
The Duet LEX was used during the May 2003 inaugural UK Darts Open Championship in Bolton, UK. Since then, it's been used for the Desert Classic II in Las Vegas, Nev.
GFX has also just completed its first season covering Rugby Union's Zurich Premiership and boxing and darts coverage for Sky Sports in the UK.
For boxing coverage, the Duet LEX is used in conjunction with the GFX Punch Statistics application and Intelligent Interface facility. By using 10Base-T networking, GFX are able to control the Duet LEX through standard 75ohm video cabling - enabling the Duet LEX to be permanently installed into the OB truck. The Punch Statistics application runs on a laptop at the ringside, where operators input statistics via handheld game-pad controllers. Templates in Lyric are then populated with the appropriate data and displayed on the director's cue.
