Sony kicked off its NAB Show press event by introducing Katsunori Yamanouchi, its new president for Professional Solutions Americas, Sony Electronics.

Camera support providers continue to roll out innovative new equipment for motion picture photographers ranging from news shooters to directors of photography.

Where the past couple of NABs have seen all sorts of drone camera platforms, some little more than toys, the 2017 exhibit floor saw fewer but more targeted unmanned aerial vehicles.

Camera makers at NAB marched forward with more 4K camera developments, a couple of 8K cameras, and some new HD cameras at breakthrough prices.

The quality of a video image is only as good as the weakest device in the video path. Lenses makers are busy in their R&D labs making sure it isn’t the lens that lets the photographers down.

There will be plenty of UltraHD 4K cameras on display at the NAB Show, including small footprint POV (point of view) and PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) models.

Lenses, as the co-equals to cameras in the capture of high-quality, high-resolution images, were in abundance at this year’s NAB Show.
