The Media eXchange Layer (MXL) has officially moved from Release Candidate to a stable production release.

The project’s steering committee has officially launched version 1.0.0 of MXL on GitHub, enabling vendors and developers to integrate MXL support into their products.

According to the European Broadcasting Union, which has been shepherding MXL to its release, the development process included alpha versions and release candidates, which were tested by EBU members and the industry. Their feedback contributed to the finalization of the stable production release. Work to update MXL’s roadmap will continue.

The EBU added it expects to see the first MXL-compatible products announced in the next few months, possibly at NAB Show.
