TV Magic Launches New i/O Workflow System At NAB

TV Magic launched its new i/O Workflow product line at NAB2007. Part of a completely scalable system designed to boost production workflow, i/O Workflow's modular components can be used independently or together to enable affordable and efficient ingest, editing, news production, and digital media delivery.

"We created i/O Workflow to provide customers with a prequalified, reliable, affordable, scalable, and flexible solution for production," said Stephen D. Rosen, president of TV Magic. "All modules in the entire i/O Workflow suite are best-of-breed products and backed by 24-hour support to ensure maximum uptime and productivity. The equipment and software is qualified, configured, and installed by TV Magic, so the broadcaster can stay focused on telling stories and not engineering."

From ingest to edit to news to the Web and beyond, i/O Workflow offers solutions for many applications.

i/ONews is an edit-to-air solution that combines leading hardware and specialized software components. Starting with Apple's Final Cut Studio, i/ONews is based on the latest news and production workflows and uses several layers of checks and redundancies to eliminate errors. i/ONews is designed for small to mid-size facilities, utilizing the latest in software-based news automation and video servers. Directors, producers, and technical directors have complete control of the file-based digital playback. i/ONews is also equipped with graphics and character generator capabilities that make station branding easy and affordable. For HD users, i/ONews is offered in both SD and HD.

i/OIngest provides a cost-effective ingest channel for the capture of any footage from tape, satellite feeds, or file-based media. The module can perform long captures at varying durations and send them directly to your existing storage solution. Apple's QuickTime® allows users to view the feed even as it is being recorded. Formats used for capture in i/OIngest include DV25, DV50, DVCPro HD, IMX, and others.

i/OCast gives users the tools to distribute digital content. Using the power of the Mac OS X and an RSS feed, i/OCast is the next step for users who want to distribute content into the digital world. The module helps users prepare their finished product for podcasting, video-on-demand (VOD), and RSS feeds via Internet-accessible cell phones and wireless devices.

i/OEdit offers TV Magic clients a prequalified edit system that fits into any production environment, whether in a post facility, house of worship, or major broadcast facility. i/OEdit features a base configuration including two Apple Mac Pro systems loaded with Final Cut Studio®. Shared storage may be implemented either through Apple's Fibre Channel solution or the latest GigE technology.

Other iterations of the i/O Workflow suite include i/OStorage, i/OArchive, and i/OMasterControl. The complete i/O Workflow product line is pre-engineered and prequalified by TV Magic. All software and hardware is tested extensively and certified to meet the demands of the production environment. TCP/IP connectivity among i/O systems allows users to pick the modular components that will best suit their production needs.

"The i/O Workflow was built in response to customer needs in the marketplace. We have vast experience working with leading broadcast systems vendors and forward-looking clients at networks, ministries, educational institutions, post houses, and other facilities. i/O Workflow grows and changes to meet the demands of growing and changing workflows," continued Rosen. "Clients looking for a simple and affordable way to launch high-quality productions need look no further than i/O."
