RF CENTRAL OFFERS TELEVISION STATIONS ENHANCED FLEXIBILITY WITH LAUNCH OF RFX-DIGITAL FIXED LINKS

Carlisle, PA, January15, 2009 – RF Central, a brand of The Vitec Group, is proud to introduce its new family of digital fixed links, the GL Series, to broadcasters throughout the country. As an ideal solution for Studio Transmitter Link (STL), Transmitter Studio Link (TSL) and Inter City Relay (ICR) applications, the versatile GL Series modular platforms offer the use of different boards, allowing the units to accept analog video, E3, EI (4x), ASI or SDI inputs with the option of mixing signals together and sending all signals over a single link.

With the transition to digital television in the U.S. and the need for high capacity digital microwave fixed links, the RF Extreme GL Series is an extremely flexible SMNP managed modular system. A variety of flexible options are available allowing the user to configure a system with either internal RF modules or RF outdoor units (ODUs). The systems are available in 2 GHz, 7 GHz, 13 GHz, 18 GHz and 23 GHz links and are capable of high capacity up to 155mbps. These links are proven in backhaul applications demanding the highest quality HD, SD or mixed signal transmission.

“The RF Central family of digital links offers broadcasters the ability to pass multiple SD and HD videos over a single link,” says RF Central CEO Jeff Winemiller. “These links are designed for higher capacity demands of today’s microwave environment, such as high definition. In addition, the radios are SNMP managed to allow the links to be fully controlled via IP connectivity, which is yet another standard in today’s industry.”

Winemiller adds, “The ability to pass multiple SD and HD videos over this single link makes it an excellent choice, allowing for future expansion. This unit is also bi-directional capable with added RF heads.”

The RFX GL series is currently available. For more information about the GL series, visit www.rfcentral.com or call 717-249-4900.
