New PESA Cheetah 512XR Provides Advanced Large-Scale Routing in Just 27 RU

PESA, a leading provider of analog and digital video and audio equipment for broadcast applications, has extended its successful line of Cheetah routing switchers to include the new Cheetah 512XR, which can be configured to 512x512, non-expandable 1024x128, or 512x256 with fully redundant crosspoints in just 27 RU, a very compact frame for a large-scale router.

In addition to its small physical size, the Cheetah 512XR features low power consumption, SDI, ASI, and HD-SDI signal support, internal fiber I/Os and optional built-in conversion cards that reduce the space required for high-quality signal distribution. The Cheetah 512XR provides exceptional performance to meet the highest standards of broadcast stations, broadcast networks, mobile production companies, cable and telco operations, and mission critical government and military applications.

The new Cheetah 512XR delivers exceptional value in large-scale routing applications, particularly when PESA’s Watchdog Matrix redundant crosspoint option is used in mission critical applications to achieve full redundancy for power, control, and crosspoints all within the same 27-RU frame. Each power supply supports either N+1 or full redundant power, and because of its low power consumption, the system requires only a minimum of cooling. Maximum control is provided by PESA’s 3500PRO and Viewport diagnostic software.

For added flexibility, the Cheetah 512XR offers 128 optional output conversion ports for support of in-frame signal conversion. Up to 16 channels per option card enable complete signal-path customization. Users requiring downconversion from HD to SDI or from digital to analog can use the Viewport software to set each signal path. PESA’s HD-to-SDI conversion card software features options including letterbox or crop mode, 4:3 safe-zone overlay, and autosensing to send SDI signals through without conversion. The DAC card uses full 10-bit conversion along with 4x oversampling to provide the highest-quality analog outputs. Fiber I/O modules support both singlemode and multimode.
