Pixelmetrix Advances MPEG Analysis

Pixelmetrix has introduced VISUALmpegPRO a tool designed to boost consistency in data verification in the MPEG bitstream.

The new application combines Pixelmetrix's VISUALmpeg Elementary Stream (VISUALmpegES) and Video Quality (VISUALmpegVQA) analyzers to allow users to visually inspect all aspects of MPEG video coding right from bit rate to macroblock motion vector analysis. Attributes of the VISUALmpegPRO include quantizer values, picture frequencies, MPEG artifacts, frame quality index, DCT coefficients and error logger. It supports analysis of MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 Part 10 video. An advanced feature of the analyzer is the MOS (Mean Opinion Score) rating, which provides a correlation between a displayed frame and its corresponding quality.

"Pixelmetrix VISUALmpegPRO serves to step up testing of MPEG-based advanced coding," said Danny Wilson, president and CEO of Pixelmetrix Corp. "Upgrading to this flexible software application offers customers optimum screening, coherent auditing of video content and methodical analysis of video compression."

Headquartered in Singapore, Pixelmetrix provides equipment and network intelligence systems to television broadcasters. It also has offices in the United States and Europe.
