Kasenna's MediaBase XMP video on demand platform now supports Microsoft Windows Media 9 compression.
MediaBase XMP, which supports MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264 compression, streamlines content management, software clustering, content distribution and Web service-based interfacing for application development. Supporting the new format, which Microsoft says offers double the compression efficiency of MPEG-2, will allow service providers to offer WM9 streaming capabilities in commercial-grade VOD deployments, which require large-system scalability to many streams and the ability to deploy in decentralized architectures with caching servers.
