Advent Communications Satfinder makes satellite acquisition easy

The Advent Communications Satfinder is an easy-to-use tool that allows an unskilled operator to align a satellite antenna without needing a spectrum analyzer.

The unit can store 50 satellite positions and 800 locations that can be easily called up from databases.

Optional GPS support allows the system to find its geographical location automatically, and an optional compass provides automatic orientation.

When combined with Advent Communications iACU4000 antenna control unit, the Satfinder is able to control the company’s motorized flyaway range of antennas, enabling the auto acquisition and auto tracking of satellites.

An optional receiver decoder can be integrated with the Satfinder providing QPSK DVB-S demodulation from 1MS/s to 45MS/s, decoded into PAL/NTSC analog composite and SDI output with embedded audio. Decoding is at 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 profiles, at up to 31Mb/s with BISS-1 and BISS-E, and non-scrambled multiplexed channels at up to 45Mb/s.
