WPEC Goes HD With a New Name and Studio

WPEC News 12 in West Palm Beach, Fla., became CBS 12 News when it started broadcasting local news in HD at the end of January. The station also inaugurated a new set and logo as well as graphics and music.

The set, designed by FX Group of Ocoee, Fla., has about 50 high-definition television monitors from 19 to 72 inches and incorporates the latest LED studio lighting, according to a note from David Christopher, news director at WPEC. It has floor-to-ceiling monitor walls and custom Duratrans that change the backdrop.

WPEC is owned by Freedom Communications in Irvine, Calif.
