UpLit Renews Contract to Provide Satellite Uplink Services for Cox Sports Television

UpLit and Cox Communications have renewed a two-year agreement to provide satellite uplink services for Cox Sports Television (CST).

Since 2002, UpLit has transmitted CST to cable operators throughout the Gulf South. CST is the exclusive regional sports network of the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets, NFL’s New Orleans Saints, and the Louisiana State University (LSU) Tigers.

Cox’s metro fiber rings route the video signal from various sports venues to UpLit’s state-of-the-art satellite teleport facility located in Harahan, Louisiana. By up-linking the signal to UpLit’s satellite network, CST reaches approximately 1.5 million viewers within a 350-mile radius of New Orleans.

“With an impressive reputation for providing reliability and responsiveness in the inherently challenging offshore telecommunications industry, partnering with UpLit for uplink services was a relatively easy decision back in 2002. And since initiating our partnership, UpLit has exceeded our expectations,” said Rod Mickler, VP of Regional Sports at CST.

“CST does an excellent job broadcasting sporting events and original programming of regional significance. In light of the challenges we all face in rebuilding our Gulf South communities, CST is a type of public service—linking displaced residents with the teams they love. We’re proud to be a part of the network’s success,” said Jerry Lenaz, business manager for UpLit.

UpLit is the only satellite communications company in the Gulf South to offer complete video and telecommunications connectivity. Via satellite, fiber, and wireless services, UpLit’s highly skilled team of engineers and technicians are known for their responsiveness and innovation in many fields.
