Two Stations Request Analog Channel Shutdowns

Christian Television Network Inc., licensee of WGNM in Macon, Ga., requested FCC permission to end broadcasting on its analog Channel 64 and to surrender the license for that channel prior to the designated end of the analog broadcasting. If approved, WGNM plans to operate WGNM-DT as a single channel, digital-only television station on Channel 45. The Public Notice DA-06-646 did not mention any steps WGNM planned to take to continue serving viewers with analog receivers.

Christian Television of Palm Beach County, licensee of WFGC in Palm Beach, Fla. also asked for permission to end analog broadcasting on its Channel 61 and to surrender the operating license for that facility prior to the designated analog shutdown. It would then operate as WFGC-DT, a digital-only station, on Channel 49. WFGC-DT is currently operating at 30 kW under an STA and has a CP for 800 kW ERP. See Public Notice DA-06-647 for more information.
