TVGateway reorganizes to address Advanced Cable Technology

TVGateway, a MSO-backed company that provides the user interface for advanced cable television services, has reorganized — changing its management team and market focus.

As part of the reorganization, the board — comprised of TVGateway's investors which includes four of the five largest cable operators in the U.S. — has put a new management team in place to lead the company as an independent entity.

TVGateway's MSO backers also increased their level of investment to fund the company's on-going development of the IPG (interactive program guide) for advanced cable services, with enhancements to support HDTV (high definition television), on demand services, and DVR (digital video recording).

Bill McCall is the company's new CEO. McCall is a TV industry veteran who has served on numerous industry consortia, such as the CableLabs' “OpenCable“ initiative, and has worked in the launch of both Court TV and the Classic Sports Network. He developed new services for the TCI/Microsoft Interactive Television trial and contributed to early strategic direction for @Home. He also supported equity investment in technology ventures at TCI Internet Services and Cox Enterprises.
