By TVTechnology published
At NAB (booth #SL3764), SGI will introduce a number of servers that are targeted at different broadcast and production studio applications and workflows.
The SGI Altix 4700 server is the first 64-bit Linux system with a blade design that allows true flexibility allowing users to configure any combination of blades. This includes CPUs, coprocessors, memory, storage, I/O and graphics.
Also on display, the SGI InfiniteStorage 6700, the next-generation 4GB Fibre Channel high-performance storage system that provides 2.5GB/s throughput; making it ideal for digital cinema applications and SAN-based digital content infrastructures.
The SGI InfiniteStorage 10000 is a mass storage system that addresses the needs of users who require large amounts of online storage, more terabytes per square foot, and fast retrieval of archived data at a price per terabyte that is comparable to a tape library.
