RTNDA and RTNDF Appoint New Leadership

WASHINGTON: The Radio and Television News Directors Association and the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation have both appointed new executive directors. Jane Nassiri will take over at the association and Kathleen Graham will run the foundation, when the current president of both, Barbara Cochran, leaves June 25.

Nassiri has been with the RTNDA since 1998, and has served as vice president of finance and administration since 2005. Graham joined the RTNDF in 1996 and was made vice president for foundation programs in 2005. While each will focus her activities on respective organizations, both are committed to jointly direct operations of the two entities.

Cochran has run both organizations since 1997. One mark of her tenure is her ardent advocacy of the First Amendment rights of journalists. Cochran helped get cameras and mics into state and federal courtrooms, and helped raise the profile of Sunshine Week, the annual campaign to focus on the importance of an open government. She was previously the vice president of news and Washington bureau chief for CBS News, executive producer on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” vice president of news for NPR and a managing editor for the WashingtonStar. Cochran will serve as president emeritus of the RTNDA and the RTNDF following her retirement.
