Pinnacles Looks to Dazzle Consumers

Pinnacle Systems is delving deeper into the home video editing business with the acquisition of the Dazzle line of products from Fremont, Calif.-based SCM Microsystems.

The deal, expected to close in July, will cost Mountain View, Calif.-based Pinnacle about $21.5 million of its commons stock/

Dazzle's products for analog and digital camcorders include the DVC Series and Hollywood Bridge Series. Pinnacle plans to sell and support the lines through its network of retailers and resellers.

"Combining Pinnacle's industry-leading Studio video editing products with Dazzle's brand gives us a strong position that lets us bring a wider variety of products to consumers and be the obvious choice for home video editing," said Pinnacle President and CEO J. Kim Fennell.
