NBC Direct, NBC Universal’s answer to Apple iTunes for downloading Peacock shows, isn’t working very well — or at all, really. Granted, NBC Direct is still in beta mode, but users can’t download TV episodes. The lucky ones who are able to download shows just can’t see them.
NBC is letting its iTunes agreement expire in December after the network and Apple failed to see eye to eye on pricing. NBC also was concerned about content piracy. With so many limitations placed on NBC Direct, NBCU has no worries right now — users can’t pirate what can’t be downloaded and/or viewed.
