MTV Networks Europe will use Pinnacle Systems' Liquid blue chrome and Liquid Edition (formerly Liquid purple) editing tools within its new, shared workflow operations in Benelux. The purchase is part of an extensive program by MTV Networks Europe to build a fully networked broadcast environment for its MTV, TMF and Nickelodeon TV channel groups within the region.
The Bussum, North Holland site has been equipped with a storage area network (SAN) that offers shared media capabilities. The Pinnacle Liquid editors will be fully integrated into the SAN, giving MTV the advantage of networked media and broadcast editing system mixes. The fusion of the Pinnacle system with the SAN enables material to be accessed across MTV Europe's broadcast workflow, from ingest to editing to playout. MTV Europe's goal was to create a tapeless work environment in which time- and labor-intensive file transfers are obsolete.
