Idaho Public Television Deploys Streambox ACT-L3

Idaho Public Television chose Seattle-based Streambox-provider of video compression and video over IP technology-to deploy Streambox's ACT L-3 to feed its dish network aggregation site.

"Besides the system performance and good quality video, the Streambox solution with real-time display of package loss and packet recovery gave us the information needed to troubleshoot network problems," said Rich Van Genderen, director of technology for Idaho PTV.

The Streambox ACT-L3 Video Transport System is shipped with Microsoft Windows XP Embedded Operating System. The ACT-L3 codec relies on Intel Pentium 4 processors with Hyper-threading technology to encode real-time interlaced video at 30 fps with automatic closed-captioning support.

"We are pleased to provide Idaho PBS with our advanced L-3 Encoder and Decoder and to solve IP-based video delivery problems over an unreliable public network," said Bob Hildeman, CEO of Streambox.

ACT-L3 applications include TV broadcasting, satellite, telemedicine, wireless, film and video production.
