Ken Ferree, chief of the FCC’s Media Bureau, is leaving his position in early March.
Ferree was selected by the now outgoing FCC Commissioner Michael Powell in early 2002 to run the bureau that joined the functions of the former cable and mass media bureaus.
Ferree was influential in the FCC’s media consolidation decision in 2003. Recently, he created a a plan to hasten the transition to digital TV by relying upon cable systems to convert digital signals for use by households that have only traditional analog TV sets.
