EVS supplies solutions for Asian Games

EVS Broadcast Equipment will provide a wide variety of its broadcast servers and related equipment to help cover the 15th annual Asian Games, from Doha, Qatar, Dec. 1-15, 2006.

EVS will help Doha Asian Games Broadcast Services, the exclusive systems integrator, to deliver a variety of applications and tapeless workflows to international broadcasters covering the games. This includes the media management of 42 different feeds and multiple broadcasts, real-time and daily highlights, and finished playout segments.

The company’s Luc Doneux said that the infrastructure for these Asian Games would be the most advanced of any major sporting event to date, allowing instant and unlimited access to all media clips for broadcasters working in a live and near-live environment.

More than 60 EVS XT[2] servers will be used for the production and playout of the Games, 14 of which will be combined with EVS’ archiving and gateway devices, XStore and XFile. These will comprise the central media server for the acquisition, production and archiving of the different media available for production and post applications.

In addition, more than 50 EVS IP Directors will be employed to control, log and browse footage stored on the media server, using keywords for the different video feeds.

EVS servers have been used this year for the Commonwealth Games, the World Cup, the Winter Olympics and the Tour de France.
