DNF Controls helps Ascent Media broadcast football games

DNF’s 3040P-L playout controllers enable Ascent Media operators to create playlists on a computer, and then quickly and easily transfer them into the 3040P-L units for playout.

Ascent Media is using DNF Controls’ playlist playout controller at its Harbor Plaza, CT, facility during playout of the NFL Sunday Ticket and ESPN GamePlan, two sports subscription television packages.

The company is using 15 DNF 3040P-L playlist playout controllers to package live feeds from each game with commercials and feature shows specific to local regions. The DNF Playlist Transfer Tool, a Microsoft Windows PC-based application, is also being employed to create playlists on a computer, and then quickly and easily transfer them into the 3040P-L controllers for playout.

The 3040P-L consists of the ST400 controller with a large LCD display and Playlist Playout software. It controls one playlist per channel on up to five channels, for a total of 2000 elements. In addition, the controller features a one-source VTR channel. It allows users to create playlists, play them, and modify them during playout.
