DemoGraFX Shifts Focus

DemoGraFX, (DGFX) a developer of digital video processing and compression technology is refocusing its product development strategy to focus on applications and systems for the professional and consumer video markets.

In the past, DGFX has targeted its Precision Video Architecture PVA tools and technology exclusively to its proprietary compression solution. Now, the Marina Del Ray Calif.-based company will focus on applications and systems based on international compression standards, specifically MPEG-2 and the emerging MPEG-4 standard, refocusing away from HDTV and D-cinema and towards standard definition broadcast and consumer video applications.

"This is an important shift for DGFX ¾ away from bleeding-edge technology exploration and toward applying the unique knowledge that we gained from that process," says Tom McMahon, chief architect. "We have made a number of important discoveries about the right ways to acquire, process and compress video ¾ now we intend to apply that knowledge to making competitive products for mainstream markets."

DGFX's PVA technology use video preprocessing, noise reduction encoding and post processing technologies to improve picture quality for the television, cable, satellite and streaming markets.
