Charter Expands VOD
By TVTechnology published
Cable provider Charter Communications will launch VOD service in nine additional markets by the end of 2002, raising the company tally to 21.
The markets are: Allendale, Mich.; Fond du Lac, Wis.; Jackson, Tenn.; Janesville, Wis.; Kennewick, Wash.; Kingsport, Tenn.; Madison, Wis.; Manchester, Tenn.; and St. Peters, Mo.
Charter is using Concurrent's MediaHawk Broadband VOD system and nCUBE's Gigabit Ethernet VOD platform. VOD is standard with Charter Digital Cable service and does not require other equipment. Prices are competitive with video rentals, ranging from 99 cents for children's programming to $3.99 for recent movies.
