During September, 741,598 DTV product units were sold, according to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). This is a 40 percent increase compared to the same time last year.
DTV products--as defined by CEA--are integrated sets and monitors displaying active vertical scanning lines of at least 480p. Under the CEA definition, Integrated sets and monitors receive and decode ATSC terrestrial digital broadcasts.
CEA Market Research projects that nearly 7 million DTV units will be sold in 2004, up to 10.77 million in 2005 and increasing to 27 million by 2008.
