Callisto switcher installed in Sat-Comm's latest SNG van

Sat-Comm, a Mildenhall, UK-based satellite and broadcast systems integrator specializing in flight-cased and vehicle-borne SNG systems, has selected Brick House Video's Callisto SDI/composite switcher for its compact Cygnus production van.

Despite its compact size, the Cygnus operates like a much larger vehicle. A member of the Company's Galaxy range of Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) fleet, Cygnus is used for live breaking news. Cygnus easily navigates city streets and can transmit live pictures within minutes of its arrival. It also features a fully redundant uplink system. The Callisto's small footprint is the perfect-sized production switcher for Cygnus' onboard baseband system.

Callisto is a full-featured yet low-cost eight-input SDI switcher with analog composite and DSK options all in 1RU space. Callisto can handle fully asynchronous (unlocked) in a mixed signal format (SDI and analog) environment.

The program and preview outputs on the Callisto are simultaneously available as both SDI and analog composite, the latter used for monitoring. In addition, there are two switched auxiliary outputs for further SDI monitoring and routing. The incoming sources can be fully unlocked as Callisto features dual-channel frame store synchronizers. The switcher will operate in standalone mode or may be genlocked to an external reference.
