BSI MapVantage helps manage Seren Innovations' broadband operations
By TVTechnology published
Broadband Services (BSI) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., an asset and supply chain management services company, has announced an agreement with Seren Innovations (also known as Astound Broadband) for the provision of BSI's MapVantage intelligent mapping services and fiber management tools to the company's broadband system operations.
Under the first phase of the project, BSI has collected and converted all data related to Seren's St. Cloud, Minn. hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) plant to a standardized Geographic Information System (GIS) format that assigns intelligent attributes to each symbol on the fiber portion of the map. All data is warehoused on BSI's servers, and is accessible to Seren via a secure Web environment for company-wide access to and dynamic management of plant data.
BSI currently is repeating the process for Seren's Concord, Calif. system. The two companies expect to assign intelligence to the symbols for the coax portion of both systems during the second phase of the agreement.
MapVantage provides operators with features needed for intelligent network mapping and management, including data conversion, customized mapping tools and secure and flexible hosting of an open geospatial database, from which authorized users can access and share data anytime and anywhere.
