Larry Bloomfield has been named SBE's Educator of the Year.

The SBE announced other awards this week. Among them: The Broadcast Engineer of the Year is Ted Szypulski, director of engineering special projects for ESPN in Bristol, Conn. He directed the design and construction of the ESPN "Digital Center," a high-definition video facility that includes what is believed to be the largest HD/TDM router in the world.

The best regional convention honor went to Chapter 22, Central New York, and Conference Coordinator Tom C. McNicholl. The best chapter frequency coordination effort went to Chapter 54, Hampton Roads, Va., and Frequency Coordinator Ted Hand.
