KVBC to Gather News With Infinity

KVBC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Las Vegas, ordered 18 Infinity camcorders from Thomson Grass Valley, the vendor said. The Infinitys will be integrated into KVBC’s filed-based news acquisition workflow, which includes Rev Pro gear and Edius editing stations.
KVBC-TV, owned by Sunbelt Communications in Las Vegas, started broadcasting news in hi-def last August. The station does six hours of live news in HD each weekday, plus five hours on the weekend.
More than 80 TV stations in 48 markets across the United States are now doing local news in hi-def., according the the monthly tally in Television Broadcast magazine. Most have started with a studio conversion and waited on ENG operations. Craig Johnston covers the challenges of taking ENG hi-def in the February issue of Television Broadcast.
