Bitcentral Provides Support for the NABJ Convention

Bitcentral Inc. has partnered with Journal Broadcast Group to provide support for the National Association of Black Journalists this week during its annual Convention and Career Fair in Las Vegas.

The NABJ convention features a student-produced daily newscast called NABJ-TV airing several times during the meeting. Student journalists capture video on Panasonic P2 cameras, ingest the video into Bitcentral mobile NLE workstations running Grass Valley Edius software, as well as manage and play-out via Bitcentral’s Precis Newsroom Production System installed at Journal Broadcasting’s KTNV, the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas. The Journal Broadcast Group is one of the sponsors of the event.

“We’re proud to partner with Journal Broadcasting in their support of the NABJ,” said Bitcentral CEO Fred Fourcher. “The students producing their stories will be learning multiplatform delivery techniques pioneered by our customers, including Journal’s KTNV, using truly nonproprietary components tied together in an efficient production workflow.”

Bitcentral, headquartered in Irvine, Calif., has also announced the availability of the Precis production system for educational institutions. Powered by Precis software, Bitcentral will offer reconditioned or new hardware for installation at schools with broadcast journalism programs. All schools that install Precis will also receive Oasis, Bitcentral’s content sharing platform.
