(January 7, 2004) Santa Monica, CA--Ascent Media Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation, has reached an agreement with Sony Electronics Inc. to acquire the assets of Sony’s Systems Integration Center (SIC), effective January 1, 2004. Northvale, NJ-based A.F. Associates, Inc. (AFA), an Ascent Media Network Services company, will incorporate SIC directly into its operations while maintaining a San Jose location. Nearly 60 former SIC employees have joined AFA.
AFA will continue to be led by Tom Canavan, president, along with his existing team based out of the New Jersey office. AFA management has expanded to include David Orr, former vice president/general manager of SIC, now senior vice president, Western Operations, and Keith Jackson, now director, Professional Services.
"All of us at A.F. Associates are thrilled to welcome the talented staff of SIC into our company," said Canavan. "SIC has been a significant force in the broadcast systems integration business, and an acknowledged leader in high definition projects, including mobile vans and studio facilities, as well as the largest scale projects. In combining these two powerhouses, AFA looks forward to providing our clients with an unmatched depth of technology consulting and project resources, enhanced by the addition of a West Coast presence."
"With this acquisition, A.F. Associates has achieved the capacity to provide current and future clients with a level of resources and experience that no other systems integrator can match," added Scott Davis, President, Ascent Media Network Services. "The additional knowledge base alone makes AFA a greater asset, not only to clients but to its sister technology companies in the Ascent Media Network Services organization as well."
