'ABC World News' Webcast marks first anniversary

Since going online one year ago with “ABC World News,” the network has carved out a solid Internet presence with Internet viewers who have downloaded or played the Webcast nearly 50 million times via iTunes and ABCNEWS.com, according to ABC.

The Webcast, which marked its one-year anniversary Jan. 3, offers breaking news, top searches on Google and the latest in pop culture and music. According to ABC, the Webcast is one of the most popular video news offerings on the Internet. Of the new entries available on iTunes, “World News” was selected as one of the People’s Choice — Best of 2006 and was one of the top 100 podcasts to generate the most new subscriptions on iTunes during the past year.

The “World News” Webcast is the first time a network newscast produced a unique program for an Internet audience, according to ABC. It airs live at 3 p.m. EDT and is available throughout the day at ABCNEWS.com, on ABC News Now, through the iTunes Music Store, via RSS readers and on mobile phones.
