Western Illinois Video deploys Myrio IP video platform

Myrio, a provider of IP video software and services, has announced that eight Independent Operating Companies (IOC), collectively known as Western Illinois Video, have deployed the Myrio IP Video Platform.

Established in January, Western Illinois Video (WIV) is a consortium of eight Illinois-based telephone companies and cooperatives committed to efficiently roll out and offer advanced services to subscribers. They are LaHarpe, McDonough, Mid Century, New Windsor, Oneida Communications, Reynolds, Viola and Woodhull.

By deploying the Myrio IP video platform, WIV is able to offer services, such as video-on-demand (VOD), digital television and Web portal services. The platform is built entirely on an extensible and customizable Java architecture, allowing the group of IOCs to deploy video services on various access providers’ equipment, including Advanced Fiber Communications (AFCI), Net to Net Technologies and Paradyne Networks (PDYN). WIV IOCs provide communication services to more than 10,000 homes and will be able to scale their video services to support their entire subscriber base.
