FSN names Connelly to head Arizona operation
FOX Sports Networks has named Mike Connelly as vice president and general manager of FSN Arizona.

Connelly assumes responsibility for the day-to-day management of Phoenix-based FSN Arizona. Prior to being named to this position, Connelly was the executive producer for FSN West and FSN West 2 in Los Angeles.

ESPN, NHL reach accord
On Monday, ESPN announced a with the NHL to deliver league coverage across a wide-range of its media assets. The agreement includes rights for new media platforms, such as highlights for Mobile ESPN, data rights and the re-airing of recent and archival games on ESPN Classic.

Sohu.com chosen for Beijing Olympics
Online media and e-commerce company Sohu.com has been selected as the official Internet content sponsor for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

The deal is expected to open cross-marketing and cross-selling opportunities.

FIFA grants ABC Sports, ESPN, Univision rights to World Cup
Walt Disney-owned ABC Sports, ESPN and ESPN2, and Univision have reached a deal with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) granting U.S. telecasts rights for eight years for the FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Women's World Cup.

According to FIFA president Joseph Blatter, ABC, ESPN and UNIVISION offered a comprehensive package. The deal, reportedly, is valued at $425 million.

"Beyond the Glory" receives honor
FOX Sports Net's “Beyond the Glory” received the award for Sports Media Program of the Year at the fifth annual Horizon Awards for Sports Business. The award recognizes the best original program from a sports media outlet.
