Sports venue architects deploy LEDs in their own facility

HOK’s new offices feature Daktronics displays.

Architectural and event management firm HOK has used sports arena LED display technology from Daktronics in its new Kansas City office building. A 3.67ft x 8ft display stretches across the front of the building on a horizontal structural beam. A second display, which wraps three sides of one of the main vertical structural elements, has a 23ft x 9ft active area. The displays show a variety of colorful graphics and information to those passing by.

Rick Martin, HOK senior principal and chief administrative officer, said the firm is using Daktronics technology to show off forward-thinking design and because LED displays are key elements in many of its public assembly facility projects. The 200,000 plus individual LEDs that populate the new displays on the HOK building are controlled by a Daktronics Venus controller and V-Link video processor.
