Sony introduces two professional HDV recorders

At NAB2006, Sony will expand its line of professional HDV products with the addition of the models HVR-M25U and HVR-M15U VCRs.

The new decks offer HDV 1080i, DVCAM and DV SP recording and playback capability to ease the migration from SD to HD production. Both are compatible with mini-size DV cassettes as well as standard-size cassettes that allow more than four hours of HDV recording. In addition, both decks have a downconversion function from HD to SD and are switchable between 60Hz and 50Hz (NTSC/PAL).

Other shared features include the ability to copy external time code through the "HDV/DV in TC" feature.

The HVR-M25U deck adds a 2.7in, 16:9 aspect ratio ClearPhoto 16:9 LCD panel for increased convenience and an HDMI output.
