Scientific-Atlanta to Offer Continuum DVP Encoders

Scientific-Atlanta will demonstrate two new Continuum DVP MPEG-2 encoders at IBC 2002 in Amsterdam starting this week.

The Continuum encoders are designed to offer space-saving, affordable digital encoding to convert analog feeds to compressed digital, and for encoding local advertising for inclusion in the digital tier.

Models D9030 and D9020 support a range of global standards, including MPEG-2, DVB and ATSC audio. The encoders were designed to decrease the cost of encoding analog feeds to digital, which has slowed some cable operators' ability to expand the digital tier.

The Continuums also offer broadcast video quality at low bit rates that allows more channels in existing bandwidth, 1 RU stackable chasses and a choice of constant bit-rate encoding or variable bit rates.
