Rohde & Schwarz Adds New Functions to DTV Test System

Rohde & Schwarz has added new functions to its R&S SFU-K353 signal test system.

These include video and audio baseband generators for PAL, SECAM, NTSC, and the R&S ATV-video video test signal library. Supplementary automotive test methods are also now possible with DAB, DRM and, soon, ISDB-Tsb options. The R&S SFU-K353 can be upgraded to accommodate emerging standards at any time, according to the company.

The unit combines a test transmitter, a signal generator/recorder for MPEG-2 transport streams, a fading simulator with up to 40 paths, a broadband digital AWGN noise source, plus an ARB generator in a single platform, which effectively replaces multiple instruments.

The R&S SFU-K353 supports terrestrial standards such as DVB-T, ISDB-T and the Chinese standard GB20600-2006. It also supports cable standards such as DVB-C and J.83B (up to 1024 QAM) and satellite standards in accordance with DVB-S, -S2, and DirecTV. The test transmitter combines DVB-H, T-DMB, ISDB-T, DMB-TH, and MediaFLO on a single platform.
