At NAB2006, Panasonic will introduce a new camera, recorder and drive for its P2 line of solid state products.
On tap is the AJ-HPC2000 camera which uses 2/3-inch CCDs and 14-bit A/D processing. It operates in 720p, 1080i and 480i modes and features five P2 card slots, with an additional slot for accessories including a proxy video encoder. There's also an SD card slot for storing and retrieving setup information for use in multicamera productions.
The AJ-HPS1500 solid-state recorder/player also provides five P2 user card slots. The machine can serve as a bridge between HD and SD, as it has provisions for installing optional up/down conversion functionality.
The AJ-PCD20 internal/external drive is designed for high-speed file transfer of DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO50 and DVCROPRO video files into nonlinear editing systems and servers. It allows users to mount up to five P2 cards containing a mixture of SD and HD video.
"Our new P2 DVCPRO HD products deliver the highest reliability and quality to broadcasters as they initiate or expand their HD capabilities," said Robert Harris, Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company vice president of marketing. "We're confident that these new HD products will build on the success of P2 DVCPRO, which has been adopted by an expanding number of top U.S. broadcast groups, including Cordillera, Cox, Entravision, Fisher Broadcasting, Liberty, Media General, Nexstar, and Raycom."
