OCTOPUS Newsroom to unveil latest version of newsroom computer system

At IBC2007, OCTOPUS Newsroom will introduce a cross-platform version of its newsroom computer system, OCTOPUS6.

OCTOPUS6 maintains the strengths of the previous version, such as centralized updates, installation-free clients and a clean GUI approach, and adds the ability to run on Windows, Macintosh and Linux platforms.

Other major new functions in the OCTOPUS6 system include tabs, single-tap searching, rundown buddy and rundown time markers:

  • Tabs order multiple open screens. While users read one screen, other ones may be open and hidden in the background. Navigation between tabs is performed with a mouse-click or keyboard.
  • Single-tap searching simplifies data searching. Users simply start typing to initiate the search in the current view. Search words are immediately highlighted.
  • Rundown buddy is a window showing sorted and/or filtered views of stories in the rundown.
  • Rundown time markers improve rundown scheduling and timing.
