Harmonic’s Rhozet video transcoding used by thePlatform

Harmonic’s Rhozet Carbon Coder video transcoding solution has been deployed by thePlatform, a broadband video management and publishing provider, and subsidiary of Comcast Cable.

thePlatform is using Carbon Coder in its new mpsManage Transcoding Service, a hosted solution that offers two transcoding options that use Rhozet Carbon Coder — a shared service for customers using thePlatform’s system who have low to medium volumes and general transcoding requirements, or dedicated servers for customers who have higher volumes or custom transcoding requirements.

Media companies including the BBC, CNBC, CBS’s College Sports TV, Gannett, Helio, HIT Entertainment, Sony BMG, and Verizon Wireless currently use thePlatform’s media publishing system.

Carbon Coder is a universal transcoding application that facilitates the transfer of media between a variety of platforms, including acquisition, editing, playout, archive, the Internet and mobile devices. It can run as a standalone application or as part of a multinode, fully automated rendering farm.
