Grass Valley offers LDK 8000

Thomson has announced the Grass Valley LDK 8000 HD camera, which will offer 14-bit A/D sampling and 24-bit resolution digital signal processing in all of today's HD formats. Support for future 1080/50p or 60p is included.

The camera uses a new generation of the proven HD-DPM+ CCD imager, which together with advanced signal processing, delivers a bright, clean, sharp picture, but shares image characteristics with the LDK 6000, allowing them to be used together on productions.

Similarly, the LDK 8000 uses the same industry standard triax and fiber connectivity as today's cameras, allowing them to be used with current installed and portable cables. The LDK 8000 also includes a new high-bandwidth fiber system to unlock the full possibilities of fast progressive scanning and advanced super slow motion. The new fiber system will adopt leading edge IT technology to deliver uncompromised image quality over 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

The LDK 8000 will be available in the fourth quarter, the company said.
