ARG ElectroDesign, a developer of signal distribution products for the broadcast and telecommunications industries, will launch its new Media Combiner 1900E multiprogram transport stream and data network adapter featuring a new IP network interface at IBC 2009. This new addition to ARG’s portfolio brings reliability and performance to a variety of signal distribution applications, including satellite backhaul and DTV broadcasting.
The Media Combiner 1900E has been designed to meet the challenges of today’s data-intensive telecommunications and broadcasting applications, where operators require fast, highly dependable and efficient transmission. Shown for the first time at IBC, the IP network interface provides transparent DVB - ASI signal distribution over Fast Ethernet or GigE IP networks.
A range of other network interfaces is also supported, including E3, DS3 and STM-1. Existing users will be able to change their current network interface to Fast Ethernet or GigE. In this way, ARG is providing a unique and cost-effective approach to the transition from SDH/ PDH to the new IP and MPLS network technologies.
The ARG Media Combiner is already used by many of the world’s transmission companies to distribute multiprogram transport streams to satellite uplink facilities, TV transmitter networks and cable television headends.
Also at IBC 2009, ARG will be demonstrating a backup disaster recovery solution using the ARG Inverse Multiplexer, I-MUX and FLEX Protection Switch/Splitters. The I-MUX permits cost-effective, robust transmission and reception of IP data and broadcast quality audio and video transmission on single or multiple E1 or T1 lines. The system provides up to 15.76Mb/s of usable broadcast bandwidth and is ideal for regional news studios, feeds to local transmitters and satellite backhaul.
