The Association for International Broadcasting Selects OmniBus iTX as Best Technology 2007

Judges Commend Scalability, Energy-Efficiency and Integration of Features for the Gear of the Year Award

LONDON -- Nov 28, 2007 -- OmniBus Systems, the innovative provider of comprehensive broadcast automation and content management solutions today announced that OmniBus iTX won the 2007 “Gear of the Year” award presented by the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) at its Media Excellence Awards in London. The awards celebrate technology and productions that demonstrate excellence in broadcasting across national boundaries.

The panel of sixteen judges from media companies around the world commended iTX for its revolutionary approach to production and playout, noting that “this solution is scalable and integrates a great number of functions allowing multi-skilled operators to take control.” The judges were also particularly impressed by the energy-saving potential iTX offers to a wide range of broadcasters and media organizations. The Gear of the Year Award is the only technology innovation award offered by the AIB.

Since its launch in 2006, OmniBus iTX has been adopted by some of the most celebrated names in the media industry, including broadcasters such as CBS, DirecTV, Chellomedia, Turner Broadcast, CNN and by media organizations such as Microsoft®. Broadcasters and facilities houses providing services to multinational audiences, like NDTV in India and VIDEOHOUSE in Belgium, use iTX to provide efficient customization of channels with the addition of local content and branding into program schedules.

“We are particularly pleased to receive this award,” said Ian Fletcher, CTO of OmniBus Systems, “because it recognizes the very significant role iTX is playing in opening up new international broadcasting markets and allowing media organizations to find and develop new audiences around the globe. iTX‘s flexibility, efficiency and breakthrough ROI makes it profitable to operate innovative broadcasting services on any scale and easy to tailor channels and repurpose content in multiple localized versions for conventional viewing, IPTV, Internet or mobile.”

iTX is a revolutionary, next-generation software-based broadcast production and transmission solution that uses standard IT hardware and advanced software technology to provide all the functionality of a traditional broadcast playout chain integrated into a file-based environment and equally capable of linear broadcasting, IPTV streaming and VOD content generation. Building on OmniBus Systems‘ decades of experience as a leading provider of high-end automation, ingest, editing, content management and playout solutions, this groundbreaking system uses a single unified software application to provide sophisticated video server and master controller functions, with powerful built-in graphics, character generation and logo insertion tools.
