NETIA — Christophe Carniel, CEO and President

Christophe CarnielQ. What broad technology trends do you think will be front-and-centre at IBC2009?

In speaking with our customers and partners, we believe there is a real need for broadcasters to be able to easily and seamlessly publish their content to multiple platforms without interrupting their workflow. This should be a hot topic at the Show.

Q. Any thoughts on how the current economic climate will affect the show?

Despite the economic crisis, new content is being created every day and there is a growing need to access, retrieve, repurpose and deliver that content to multiple platforms in a streamlined, cost-effective manner. IBC2009 provides a great opportunity for attendees to discover new and innovative solutions from providers around the globe.

Q. What?s new that you will show at IBC2009 and that broadcasters should look for there?

NETIA is offering its MANREO 2 complete media asset management system, which allows users to maximize productivity gains in asset management and the use of rich media, which in turn can be repurposed and published to platforms such as Web portals and mobile devices. The solution supports all industry-standard formats, ingesting content, generating browse proxies, enriching media through speech-to-text functionality, and providing easy access to media. MANREO 2 has also been fully integrated with our popular Radio Assist 8 software suite.

Q. How is your new product offering different from what's available on the market?

NETIA's Workflow Engine, part of the MANREO 2 range, makes it easy for users to configure and automate different workflows as well as all of the powerful archiving features found within our HyperCast Warehouse archiving tool. The benefit to the user is a highly streamlined workflow and great time savings.

Q. Where are you based, and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?

NETIA is based in the South of France near Montpellier. We also have offices in the United States, Paris, Rome and Sydney, in addition to a global network of professional distribution partners. NETIA has 50 employees, 21 of whom are in R&D. We are owned by GlobeCast, which is 100-percent owned by the France Telecom/Orange Group.

Q. How many years have you been going to the IBC show and what's your fondest memory? What's your favorite restaurant or pub?

This is our tenth IBC conference. Amsterdam is a great city — we always have a great time, and there is a great restaurant at every turn and in every nook and cranny of the city.
