Vender News: NewTek Gives Up a Guitar

SAN ANTONIO: Peter Lebow went to NAB in Las Vegas last month and all he came back with was a Epiphone SG-Special autographed by Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees; Elliot Easton from The Cars; Chris Slade of AC/DC and Kip Winger of his eponymous band. Lebow won the ax from NewTek, the video processing specialist in Central Texas. The guitar was the prize for the company’s NAB 2009 Rock ’N Roll Fantasy Camp giveaway. Lebow was randomly chosen in a drawing.

“I’m a huge rock and roll fan; it was awesome to win this guitar. As soon as it arrives, it will be going on the wall in my home office,” said Lebow, producer of Instant Films, an invitation-only festival for films created in less than 48 hours, and co-founder of Small & Creepy, an online film company. “I’ve followed NewTek for a long time and always go to their booth at the show. One of NewTek’s vice presidents urged me to enter the drawing. I didn’t think a lot about it at the time, but I’m glad that I did!”

Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp uses NewTek’s TriCaster portable live production and virtual set system to stream live performances from its venues, attended by rock god camp counselors and animated celebrities such as Homer Simpson.
