UPN to Premiere 10 HD Series in Fall

UPN, the little network engine that could, will get serious about HD primetime content in the upcoming season with most of its nightly line-up going 1080i--which UPN refers to as "HDTV's highest definition format." Ten of its affected series will total six hours of HD programming weekly.

UPN offers an abbreviated primetime schedule of shows compared to the big four, with two hours of primetime series Monday-Thursday. (On Friday nights it airs two hours of non-HD pro wrestling.) Among its new HD shows coming in the fall most anticipated by TV critics is Chris Rock's "Everybody Hates Chris."

Rock (who is not in the show, by the way) will go head-to-head on Thursdays at 8 ET with NBC's "Joey," which is also in HD. UPN also plans to air some of its Saturday afternoon movies in 1080i. HD programs include (all times ET-PT):
