TCT Network selects UTAH-400 router for master control center

TCT Network, one of the fastest-growing faith-based networks, has chosen a UTAH-400 SD/HD router and three BPS-2020 digital bypass switchers from Utah Scientific.

The network is configuring the UTAH-400 as the central router and a cuts-only master control switcher in the company's rebuilt and completely upgraded network master control center. The new operation will be all serial digital, with HD broadcasting capabilities to be added in the future.

Gil Couch, VP of engineering at the TCT Network, said the UTAH-400's redundant crosspoints and power supplies were clear advantages.

Under control of a MediaBank automation system from Digital Broadcast Systems, the UTAH-400 router/master control system is set up to manage three program signals: the TCT domestic feed, which feeds its 18 U.S. TV stations; the TCT world feed, which broadcasts signals via DIRECTV throughout the world; and the local feed for WTCT-TV, the network's flagship station in Marion, IL. It's also using Leitch 6803 keyers to support the network's Compix Media character generators.

Founded as one station in 1977, The TCT Network serves 30 million people in the United States and Canada, and 1.7 billion worldwide.
