Signage plays key role in California community center upgrade

Flexible digital displays and presentation systems are an integral component of the expanding Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center in Mission Viejo, CA. A new 13,000sq-ft wing is addressing the community's needs for meeting and event space — and its meeting rooms are incorporating the latest in multimedia display and presentation capabilities. Systems integrator TV Magic is providing engineering and installation services.

The community center's multipurpose room features a stage for performances and concerts and is equipped with a large display screen for video and computer-generated presentations. The multipurpose space also can be split into two distinct areas for smaller events, with the audio system enabling use of the area in either configuration. Two additional meeting rooms are being equipped with a display screen and audio system.

Digital displays also are being installed in the lobby to keep visitors up to date on city information, events and programming at the facility. A fiber link to City of Mission Viejo facilities will enable live broadcasts of public meetings on MVTV, the city's TV channel.

The new wing more than doubles the size of the community center; it is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2008.
