Scientific-Atlanta acquires tech assets from Arris Interactive

Scientific-Atlanta will acquire Arris Interactive network technology assets for $37.5 million. The assets to be acquired include laser transmitters, analog optics, optical nodes and RF amplifiers.

Scientific-Atlanta said the acquisition would allow it to extend its product offerings to a wider customer base.

Arris Interactive, based in Duluth, Ga., provides broadband local access networks and high-speed data and telephony systems to homes and businesses.

The sale to Scientific-Atlanta represents the Actives product line of Arris' Transmission, Optical & Outside Plant business.

All receivables are excluded from the transaction and the transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2002. Total revenue from the Actives business was approximately $44 million for the nine months of this year.
